Our Emphasis

Our emphasis is on excellent design coupled with the highest standards of manufacturing. Everything is hand made and finished by time served craftsmen as well as the latest manufacturing equipment.

Design and Craft

With a combined design background of more than 60 years, we carefully select our material types to suit each application. We have produced a range of timeless pieces of furniture, including kitchen and dining room tables, wooden or upholstered chairs, stools, beds and garden benches.

Bespoke Design

We will happily undertake bespoke work, designing exactly for your requirements, with form and functionality being the top priority. Our projects range from kitchens, libraries, staircases, bedrooms, bathrooms, and all types of furniture; to summer-houses, gypsy caravans, front doors or tree-houses.

Craftsmanship

We approach what we do with the utmost passion, pride and dedication, maintaining the skills, standards and aesthetics that are all too often lost in today's mass-produced marketplace. We work rigorously to produce the best possible finish. Of course, it's not always about looking to the past, so we harness the latest in modern technologies. Each piece of furniture is fully realised in our CAD studio before we even think about lifting a saw. We believe this marriage of old and new works in perfect harmony to produce the best possible result, maintaining age-old skills and combining them with the precision of modern technology.

The Team

Stuart Ferris is an experienced furniture maker with an extensive knowledge and expertise in making both interior and exterior pieces. He has dedicated his life to furniture since being inspired as a child, and has worked as a furniture maker and traditional joiner for over 25 years. For him furniture making is a passion.

James Scott Harden has also shared a passion for furniture for as long as he can remember. They joined forces to create the Damn Good Furniture Company in the late 1990s. James brings with him a background of expertise in concept design. The partnership means clients will benefit from both expert design and furniture making skills.

The Commissioning Process

Commissioning your own bespoke furniture is a creative, fulfilling and exciting process in itself.

This is your opportunity to put your own personal stamp on a piece that may be in your family for generations to come. The whole process of turning an idea into a design and a design into a finished piece of craftsmanship is a rewarding one. It's a rare opportunity to glimpse a snapshot into an ancient traditional craft.
