Stuart Ferris
is an experienced furniture maker with an extensive
knowledge and expertise in making both interior
and exterior pieces.
Since leaving school, the 40-year-old
craftsman has dedicated his life to furniture
making having worked as a furniture maker and
traditional joiner before studying at Cheltenham,
Salisbury and Oxford.
Stuart has lived in the Cotswold
town of Great Barrington all his life. For him
furniture making is a passion.
“I’ve always been
interested in architecture, size, scale and
proportion. If you grasp these concepts it makes
furniture making that bit easier,”
he said.
“I view myself as very fortunate.
I’ve grown up in the Cotswolds which for
me is a beautiful part of the world. I walk
to work across two fields and I work in a period
Cotswold stone building.
“I’m passionate about
what I do. Growing up here I’ve seen many
of my friends leave for bigger towns and cities.
So for me furniture making is not just a living
but an opportunity to promote one of the crafts
of this area.” |

James
Scott-Harden graduated with a BA honours degree
in three dimensional design from the University
of Northumbria. The 36-year-old, originally
from Durham/Northumbria border, has been a friend
of Stuart since the mid 1990s.
He brings with him a background
of expertise in concept design. The partnership
means clients will benefit from both expert
design and furniture making skills.
“We offer clients a
high quality service. Our aim is to produce
furniture that people can be proud of.
“Whether it is a piece
to match existing antique furniture, or it might
be a contemporary piece, we make furniture to
suit people’s lifestyles.
“The process from concept
to design and production to delivery adds that
extra character and edge to the final piece.
The fact that it will stay in your family for
generations is another thought for comfort.”
